Dr Marta Hermaniuk

Dr Marta Hermaniuk (née Wasiluk) is a general dentist and the person most families at Medical-Dent see for their routine care. She treats patients from about three years old upwards and tends to keep them for years.

What she does

Check-ups and treatment planning; treatment of decay with layered composite fillings; root canal treatment of straightforward cases; gum treatment; whitening; and preventive work — fluoride, fissure sealants, hygiene instruction. Work is done under magnification with digital radiography and a diagnostic laser for picking up early decay, and anaesthesia is given with the SleeperOne system.

Children and nervous patients

She does children’s first visits, treats baby teeth so they last until they are meant to fall out, seals permanent molars as they come through, and refers early to Dr Gofroń when a bite needs an orthodontist’s opinion. With anxious patients of any age the pace is slower and everything is explained before it happens; nobody is rushed into the chair.

Prevention

Each patient gets a prevention plan matched to their risk: how often to come in, which products to use, what to change about diet and brushing. It is reviewed at each visit rather than filed and forgotten.

Practical

Consultations are in English or Polish, and a Polish-speaking nurse is with patients throughout the visit. Dr Hermaniuk is registered with the General Dental Council.
