Periodontitis treatment with Vector Paro Pro

Bleeding gums, persistent bad breath or a change in the way your teeth feel deserve a dental assessment. These symptoms do not tell you on their own how advanced a gum problem is. Periodontitis affects the tissues supporting the teeth and needs a treatment plan, not just a particular cleaning device.

Vector Paro Pro is an ultrasonic system used for periodontal cleaning. It can be part of treatment, alongside care at home and follow-up reviews.

What is periodontitis?

Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums. Periodontitis involves damage to the supporting tissues, including bone. Not every episode of bleeding means bone has been lost, and progression is not inevitable, but an examination is needed to tell the difference.

What does the Vector system do?

The system uses ultrasound to help remove deposits from tooth and root surfaces. Its tip moves in a linear direction along the root surface. This is different from saying that the device produces no vibration at all.

The manufacturer describes how the Vector system works. Product descriptions explain the equipment, but they do not establish that one device is the best choice for every patient or that treatment will always be painless.

Your clinician may use ultrasonic equipment, hand instruments or a combination. The choice depends on the area being treated and your needs. If you are sensitive or uncomfortable, say so; local anaesthetic may be appropriate. No instrument can guarantee complete removal of every bacterium, no tissue injury or a successful outcome in every case.

Keeping gum disease under control

Professional treatment needs to be supported by daily cleaning. Your dental team can show you how to clean around the gumline and between the teeth, using tools suited to the spaces in your mouth. Follow-up and maintenance intervals depend on your condition and risk, rather than a fixed schedule for everyone.

Ask what your proposed periodontal treatment includes, how progress will be checked and what continuing maintenance is likely to involve. A quotation should reflect that plan rather than the name of the device alone.
